William Staib - President
A native New Yorker, Mr. Staib is a graduate of Fordham University and holds degrees
in Mathematics and Economics. He began his transportation career in 1979 working as
an ocean and air freight forwarder to the commercial and project shipping community.
Managing the traffic and logistics for numerous construction and sewage projects
worldwide instilled in him the importance of the timely arrival of goods at destination,
a consideration which guides many of his decisions at UCL.
In 1990, Mr. Staib relocated to Houston, TX to handle the transportation needs of a
major Japanese trading company. His requirement for reliable charter brokerage services
led him to his UCL partner, David Keller and in 1995, Unitcargo Container Line, Inc. was
established. After 10 years, Mr. Staib remains enthusiastic about the challenges of ocean
shipping and UCL's future prospects.
